The Weekend!

SO it's Saturday, and although I usually don't do much during the week, I have had several things going on this week, which has been a nice change from my usual empty schedule week after week.  I'll start first with an update from my Dr's appointment on Wednesday.

Wednesday I went for my normal monthly doctors appointment with my rheumatologist Dr. Turner, in Florence.  He looked at all my lab work and test, and although there were a few things that were off a little bit, it was nothing major and everything looked good for the most part with all my vasculitis issues.  Although, I have been having alot of pain in my chest, he believes that it's my asthma flaring up a bit.  With the change in weather and what not, it seems to have triggered some wheezing and tightness in my chest.  Along with that I have some drainage from my sinus infection which is causing an awfully painful sore throat and cough.  Hopefully it'll all straighten out soon and I'll be feeling alot better.  It was definitely a relief though knowing that it wasn't a flare up with CSS, thank you God!

On Thursday, Chad and I went to the Eric Church/Jason Aldean concert.  I have never seen either of them in concert but I love all of their music.  It was definitely a great concert and well worth the money, I think anyways.  I saw lots of people that I knew and the whole place was packed! The show lasted from 7:30-10:30 and was alot of fun!  Jason Aldean has come to Florence several times, but this was the first time I had seen him and I definitely plan on seeing him again, if he comes back this way!

Friday: Chad was off, and I'm always off, so it was nice to sleep in without having to first wake up when Chad normally gets up for work at 6:20 every morning! After we got up, I had an appointment to go get my nails done and Chad had a bunch of errands to go do to get ready for his fishing tournament today! Thanks to Danielle @ the Haven for doing a wonderful job on my nails! I decided to change up my normal acrylic french manicure for a solid pink since it is starting to feel somewhat like spring weather! She used the new Shellac polish-and just FYI, it's wonderful! Stays on literally weeks without chipping or cracking.  If you haven't tried it, I definitely recommend it. It's wonderful and Danielle does a fabulous job! So anyways, Chad and his partner Jerry won their fishing tournament last weekend, and we're all hoping that they can pull out another with today, bringing home the first place money! That would be great because this tournament is worth a lot more money and who doesn't like some extra cash?! We have planned on buying a new flat screen TV sometime in the next couple weeks, but we just haven't decided on what kind we want. LCD? Plasma? Size? We just haven't figured which would be the best yet.  We want to get a nice one without spending a fortune, but not a cheap one either with poor visual quality.  So if anyone has any suggestions on what they think works best as far as size and brand, please feel free to fill me in b/c I don't know much about TVs except how to watch them! :)

Also on Friday, my sister and Lew decided that they would grace us with their presence and came home from Charleston for the weekend.  Since I was at home with Chad, they came by to see us before they went to my parents.  It was definitely good to see them since they don't get to come home all the time.  After they left, it wasn't long that we decided to head to bed.  Chad had to get up at 5:30 to head out for his tournament, and I slept a little longer before getting up and getting ready.  I'm working today at Blush-A Merle Norman Studio in downtown Hartsville for a friend that owns the store.  She's in a wedding this weekend and she asked me to work today.  Even though it's Saturday, I still don't mind being here all day.  I really like her store and it gives me a chance to get out and do something.  I really enjoy working up here every now and then!

Saturday: I'm working from 10-4 while Chad does his best to win his fishing tournament.  Weigh in is around 2:30 or 3 I think? So I'm hoping he'll call me afterwards telling me that they won! That would really make for a great weekend! Since I woke up with a sore throat and painful cough, I think a win from Chad and Jerry would definitely put a smile on my face! :) I'm also trying to get my sister to get herself out the bed and come sit up here at the store with me so I don't have to be by myself.  However, anyone that knows my sister knows that she does indeed love her sleep.  She'll sleep until 4 in the afternoon if you let her!

Lastly, I need some help with something.  I sometimes feel like I don't have much to blog about since I don't do a whole lot of things.  Can anyone think of some interesting topics that would make for a good post, since all I typically write about is my day or what I am doing.  I read other friends blog posts and they have some interesting topics, so If anyone has some suggestions, please let me know! Well I don't have much more to say (imagine that-lol).  Hope everyone enjoys this beautiful weather and the rest of their weekend!

Tuesday..

Today is Tuesday and there really hasn't been much going on in my world lately.  However, a group of us did get together for dinner and midnight bowling on Saturday and in all honesty, it's probably the first time I've gone out and done something in a LONG time.  We didn't get home until 2:30 in the morning, and I haven't been up that late in forever! So on Sunday we didn't really do much.

Tomorrow I have my monthly Dr's appointment with my specialist.  I'm hoping everything will go okay considering the last week or so I've been having alot of pain in my chest and arm. I don't really know what's causing it, and won't know until I see the doctor. I went today to my mom's office to have all my blood work and test done, and so far, the ones that have been completed look okay, but there is still a few more that we're waiting on.  Hopefully they will all be normal, but I'll make sure to update after my appointment.

On a sweeter note, I woke up yesterday morning, and when I went to the kitchen to get something to drink, this is what I found on the kitchen table:

Chad's always doing super sweet stuff like this; leaving little notes, or messages, or just calling to tell me he loves me. He's the best and I literally couldn't ask for anyone better! :)

Also, in a previous blog post I wrote about creating a crafty bulletin board using a standard cork board, fabric, and ribbon.  After I finished, my sister and 2 of my friends really likes it so I decided I would make them one as well.  On Saturday, Kristin, Kayli, and I ventured to Florence and made our way to Hobby Lobby.  Let me just say that I could literally spend hours upon hours in this store, but we were on a time crunch so we made our way to the fabric department, got what we needed, and continued on with what we were doing. Kristin picked out a fabric she liked and I picked out one for my sister since she's in Charleston for school right now. Yesterday I got bored and decided I would start their craft projects and managed to get the cushion layer as well as the fabric layer on both boards.  Here is a picture of what they look like so far. I still have to add the ribbon that will be used to hold things in place as well as little decorative things to make it look complete, but this is just what they look like as of right now.

This is the fabric I picked out for Cameren.
And this is the fabric Kristin picked out

I'm going to try to finish them up hopefully by tomorrow.  And I'll make sure to post a picture of the completed product.  I know they may look a little boring at this moment, but they will be super cute and decorative when I finish with them!

Anyways, that's about it for today. Hope everyone has a great night!

What a Monday!

So yesterday, started out pretty typical for a Monday morning.  I woke up, ate a bowl of cereal, and watched my morning tv sitcoms (rough life I know). As the morning went along I noticed that the sinus problems I'd been having all week were ever worse and so I called the doctor and they decided I needed to come in for him to take a look. So I went to the doctor and ended up leaving with another antibiotic to try to clear things up. Hopefully it'll work and I'll be feeling better.

Also yesterday being Valentine's Day, Chad and I decided that we weren't going to really do anything, however, I did get him a cute card and he surprised me with some really pretty flowers.  I love flowers and was super shocked because I have never received flowers on Valentines Day before! They are sitting on the kitchen table and when I woke up this morning and walked into the kitchen, I could smell the roses.  It was fabulous!  Here is a pic of the flower arrangement Chad surprised me with, he's so sweet!

On a rather sad note, yesterday in Hartsville, the Rainbow Fertilizer Plant caught on fire and is still burning today.  I had just gotten off the phone with Chad and was on the way to the IGA on the north side of town to pick up something to cook for dinner when I saw all the flames and billows of smoke fill the air.  The time was about 6:55 so according to all the news reports, the fire had just begun and the fire fighters, police, and EMS workers had not arrived on the scene yet.  It was the biggest fire I have ever seen.  As I was standing outside with the manager of IGA and a couple other people, something blew up causing an extremely loud boom, which shook the building.  All of us took off running inside because the booms were so loud and scary.  I wasn't in IGA 5 minutes and came back out and was on the way back home and I had to drive right past the fertilizer plant on the bridge and all you could see was flames and an orange sky.  My heart sank as I thought about all the people that were going to be affected by this tragic fire.  Our town has really been through alot lately and I know we can all bounce back in time.  So my prayers go out to all the workers, families, and anyone else that was involved or affected by the fire.  Here is a picture below of the flames.

Well that's about all I have for today. Hope everyone has a wonderful afternoon!

Been a While!

So, I know I know, it has definitely been a LONG time since my last post, but I'm back and decided it would be a good time (since I have nothing much to do today) to update and fill everyone in on all the new and exciting things that are going on in my life (hah!-yeah right)

So, as for an update on me and what I have been doing, there has been one big chance that has taken place.  I decided to move in with Chad, and I love it! He is the best and I love him to pieces. I do miss my mom and dad, but I do make it a point to go by and see them everyday.

As far as the job search, Dr. Turner still will not let me "officially" go back to teaching until the fall, but I have been looking around for teaching jobs to apply for and been helping out Tamara at her store whenever she needs me and just doing odd jobs.  I must say that yes I am definitely bored not having a job and staying at home everyday gets old, real quick.  Everyone says, "oh I bet its so nice to not have to go to work and blah blah blah" but I promise you, the grass definitely is not greener on the other side.  I just kinda feel like all my days run together because I don't do much during the day or week for that matter that differentiates one day from the other.  It's quite boring and lonely to be honest. If if weren't for doctors appointments and the grocery store, I might would consider myself a hermit.

On a brighter note, Kristin and Hank came over the other night and all 4 of us, (Me, Chad, Kristin, and Hank) sat down and ate dinner and caught up on the latest gossip, haha! I love the fact that I can spend time with my boyfriend, AND best friend, at the same time! It's like the best of both worlds! I love Kristin to death, and I can honestly say that she is one of the very few people that I know I can completely trust, with anything! Even though she lives in Darlington I still see her pretty frequently and I love her to death.

As far as all my medical stuff, I've been doing okay. A couple weeks ago I had to have another echo cardiogram done because I was beginning to have to same pain in my chest and arm again that I had previously had when I initially went into the hospital, and Dr. Turner wanted to make sure that the fluid had not built back up around my heart again.  Everything came back okay and he told me to just make sure that I monitored everything, how I was feeling, what hurt/didn't hurt, my breathing/asthma, and all the other symptoms that could possibly indicate a flare up of my CSS.  Luckily, so far everything has seemed okay, however I still continue to constantly keep a sinus infection.  I feel like that is the story of my life though.  However, all the blood test and everything else that Dr. Turner did on my last appointment came back looking good.  My hemoglobin was a little low, but he said it wasn't to low to be a concern so that was definitely good news.  I go back Feb 22 for my monthly tests and appointment with Dr. Turner.  This is just something that I've come to accept and realize that this is how things are going to have to be.  I'm going to have to see the Dr monthly so I might at well like it.  Although I'm glad that he wants to keep a close eye on everything and monitor my levels each month, I do get a little nervous, just because I don't want something to go wrong and the test to come back with a 'red flag', but I guess its better to know that if something does come up, hopefully with my schedule of Dr's appointments like they are, it'll mean that they catch whatever the case may be early.

With all this free time that I have, I have decided that I want to learn how to sew. I know that might sound kind of old but I find myself always watching the TLC channel and wanting to do little craft projects, and it would really come in handy if I knew how to sew. I did however recover and cork board and add some design to it to use as a jewelry/message board.  I have to admit though, I did have some help from my mom.  In the process I managed to burn my finger several times with the hot glue gun..not fun! But overall I was pleased with the final product.  I'll have to take a picture and post it for y'all to see.

Well that's all that I can think of for right now, but I will make sure to update more regularly and not go so long in between posts.  Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
